This is the cliff-notes version of the past several days in our house.
*I took Sage to the ER Friday night b/c she was coughing and gagging and could not stop. The 1 hour long neb. treatment was helpful for a little while. She was admitted around 4am b/c the ER doc told me they could provide her neb. treatments more frequently in the hospital than I am allowed at home. However, once admitted they did not do that for her but her O2 levels were always very good anyway. We were home by 1pm. We will never do that again. Live and learn and try to forgive ourselves.
*Did breathing treatments a ton over the weekend. Rhonda came to help.Lance ripped out the carpet in their room, put in pergo and we now own a HEPA filter in their room.
*Monday saw the pediatrician who gave us advice we decided not to take (keep her on prednizone another week, etc.)
* Saw the first pulmonolist we saw a year ago (Rosenberg). He totally disagrees with most of what the other pulm. (Dr. Channey)w/ Children's has diagnosed Sage with. He doesn't think she has reflux and likely doesn't have tracheomalacia and may or may not have asthma.
*Rosenberg decreased Sage's meds by half, if not more. Hooray! He sent us for a sinus screen. Sage's sinuses in her head are not only completely full, they are impacted. She's on a month's worth of antibiotic for that and I took her to the chiro today to see if he could help w/ that. He did some minor adjustments.
*Rosenberg wants to rule out lots of things. Besided the sinus scan, Sage had blood drawn to look for immunity issues...I've wanted this tested for the last 8 months but never pushed for it b/c the pediatrician talked me out of it.
*Tomorrow she will get a sweat test done to rule out cystic fibrosis and that is all I am going to comment on that other than Lance is not worried.
*Friday she has allergy testing. Rosenberg said our allergist is excellent but he does not think allergies are the issue.
Our neighbors have brought meals and babysat a ton. The girls are at Sarah's right now b/c I wanted to write this all out and put away my laundry and put my house back together again. The exhaustion of all of this has finally hit me. But we're hoping for pretty weather tomorrow b/c we're celebrating 3 kids' b-days tomorrow.. Ainsley, Riley, and Samuel. It should be fun and a nice diversion. It's going to be simple.
Keep praying for wisdom! Thanks.
